Im looking to set up a simple 5.1 budget system. Problem is I have an odd room. The room is 25 feet long and about 15 feet wide. The TV is on one of the long walls and where we sit is back against the opposite wall. I dont know what to do with the rear speakers as it is impossible to get them behind me. They would either have to be on the sides pointing towards each other or above me pointing forward. Ive even been thinking about doing a 3.1 system just using the fronts and a center channel and leaving the rears out. What would you guys do?

Put them in the back corners of the room, mounted high up on the side walls, facing towards the listening area. The multiple reflective surfaces will make the sound more diffuse and enveloping, while the wide spread will help maintain left-vs-right separation in the surround field.
