I am looking for suggestions on which speakers to order. The speakers will be connected to a Denon 1613. The speakers would be primarily for home theater viewing (at least 75%). Initially I am just planning on ordering two bookshelf speakers with plans later to add a center, subwoofer and floorsting speakers (moving the bookshelf speakers to the back to act as surrounds). The room they will be in is large (12' by 30' in the section we are going to put them in with a total of approximately 600 total square feet with open doorways into another room approximately another 200 square feet). My choices are:

Audioengine P4

Boston Acoustics A25

Cambridge Audio S20

Infinity Primus P163

KEF C3

Klipsch RB-41II

Polk Audio RTiA1

Polk Audio TSi200

Polk Audio TSi100

Polk Audio TSx110B

Polk Audio TSx220B

PSB Alpha B1

PSB Alpha B4

Yamaha NS-BP400PN

I could also order any of the following floorstanding speakers:

Infinity Primus P253

Polk Audio TSi300

Yamaha NS-F150PN

I have "points" in my health program so none of the above would "cost" me anything. Thanks in advance!

I would go with the Infinity Primus P163, a lot of those speakers are more suited for satellite duty. Also, it will be easy to complete the system later on. Can you also get the P363? They would be a better option for 2.0, and then add some bookshelves, a center, and sub later on.

Living Room
Samsung PN60F5300 | Denon DBP-1611 | Roku 3
Denon AVR-1713 | EMP E55Ti | EMP E56Ci | EMP E5Bi | BIC F-12

Computer
Topping TP23 | NHT SuperZero 2.0 | Velodyne DEQ-8R

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I only have enough points for the P253 in towers (the P363 is twice as many).

For a room that size, some towers would be your best bet and the P253 would be my choice.

I'd suggest getting the P163 for free, and if you live by a frys electronics, they tend to get the 363 towers for $99 or $109 each on sale every 3-6 weeks I think. save up later for the matching center as it's usually expensive...

Thanks. I've narrowed it down to the Infinity P163 and the Polk TSi100 (based on advice from others). Any benifits between the two? The points, by the way, are awarded through my employer for reaching certain health-related goals.

The only other thing I can add is if the speakers are going to be close to a wall you'll want the front ported P163 as it won't be affected by boundries around the speaker as much as the Polk. The P163 should be able to play lower frequencies a little better than the Polk since it's using a larger driver and is physically a larger speaker. Both speakers have budget options for adding more speakers to go 5.1 if you ever desire (Frys for the Infinities, Polk sales on newegg or their ebay store for them).
Aside from that either speaker will do the job you intend it to do - and later on you'll suffer from upgraditus and want more or better speakers so it'll be a moot point by then wink.gif Good Luck cool.gif

EDIT: On a slightly different note, if you don't ever plan on expanding beyond the 2.1 system, get yourself the floorstanding speakers. The Yamaha is probably a little better than the infinity, but I can't comment as I've never heard a yamaha speaker. The placement issue with front vs rear port is the same between the two. I'll still recommend the Infinity since I've experience with the brand; I've heard polk before (in the store admittedly, never home auditioned them as I just didn't care for them).
