As the title says?

I'm buying a Yamaha RX-A3010 and am looking for new speakers.

I want to keep the speakers small, as the towers I have now take up too much space in the living room. I was thinking of JBL-CS6100BGs, but want to make sure they will work with this receiver.

Thanks.

They'll work fine with the Yamaha 3010 receiver but that's a lot of receiver to drive those satellites. Unless you like the feature set of the 3010 you might be able to get away with a lesser receiver.

Just curious how you ended up looking at/choosing that receiver and those speakers... they don't really appear to be in the same league with each other.

I'm getting the receiver from my boss for cheap...it's sitting on a shelf not being used.

And my current speakers are form a kenwood package I bought about 15 years ago. The sub is blown, and the towers, while good, are just too big.

The speakers aren't a long term investment, they'll probably go downstairs when I purchase better ones down the road.

3-5 years from now, your speakers will still sound the same and your receiver will be dated!

Set up #1: EMP e5ti, e5Ci, and SLS Q line Audio surrounds, EMP 10i10i sub
Set up #2: Def Tech SM450, CLR2002, SLS Qline surrounds and Klipsch 12wD sub
Set up #3: JBL130, JBL120C and Klipsch synergy sub

Right. I plan to move the speakers downstairs and I'll likely upgrade to in wall/ceiling speakers in the future for this and future systems in the living room.
