All,

I'm really having a hard time with my upgrade process...Decision, Decisions rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

My layout in my new home is below. I have been running my polk Monitor 60's for 3 years now and my current Budget is $1000 to upgrade the Front stage. I'm open to all suggestions. The room will be mainly for TV/Movie viewing...so 80% Home theater/ 20% music.

My Current Setup:

  • Polk Monitor 60 (Fronts)
  • Polk Monitor 30 (Rears)
  • Polk Monitor CS2 (Center)
  • SVS PB-1000 Sub

I have listened to the following speakers, in order of likeness:
  • Polk Audio RTi A5
  • Klipsch RF-62 ii
  • Polk RTI A7
  • PSB Image B6

Thanks in advance

I would add another sub first. That's a pretty big space. IMO I don't think there is enough difference going from your monitors to the Rti to make it worthwhile for HT use.

Klipsch RF-62II, RC-500, RS-400, SVS PC12+,
Def Tech SC8000
Harman Kardon AVR 1600
PS3, Apple TV, Sharp 70" Qattron

I was afraid of that. I'm having a hard time convincing the Wife that we need another sub. mad.gif She feels we shake the whole upstairs currently...LOL

I'm only looking to upgrade because I feel I've hit the wall with these speakers. I'm currently running a Pioneer Elite- vsx-52 and everyone seems to think no power amp is needed, but speaker upgrade is what will take me to the next level. Any thoughts on speakers that will provide a noticeable upgrade?

More subs makes bass more even. The purpose is (usually) not to make it louder (though louder is possible that was a well).

$200/ea sets I know a bunch of.
$1200+/ea sets I know a bunch of.

There's a $500/ea level of speaker where I really need to find something I recommend. Ahh well, there's plenty of others with opinions in that range.
