How would these sound in a dedicated media room that is 13w x 17 L? The main purpose of the room will be around 80% movies and tv the rest would be for listening to music for my kids to dance. I currently have no speakers just a def tech supercube ii and a denon 2113ci. Would these be a good addition ?i was also looking at the Cambridge Audio s30 or even the floors the s70.

I'm sure either set would be fine. If you're going with a dedicated home theater system you probably want to get the matching center speaker also.

s50 for the Cambridge speakers

CS2 or CS20 for the Monitor 60's.

Is it best to put the floors on some type of stand or build like a corner shelf that they will sit on? I hear it's best to have the fronts at or just above ear level. The way they wired the house the top LCR are about 8 feet upbe2yhugu.jpg front of media room

And rear 2y9egymy.jpg

Ideally the tweeters on the front 3 speakers should be a seated ear height. The surrounds are kinda a personal preference some ppl say at ear height or 1 foot above some say 2 to3 feet above, Me I like the surrounds high....... Also if your only doing a 5.1 system the surrounds are supposed to be side surrounds not rear surrounds, rear surrounds only exist in a 7.1 setup. The side surrounds should be mounted between 90 degrees and 110 degrees to your side.

Well it looks like the wife doesn't want to do floors would the s30 be the next best thing comparable in this price range. I found them for 150 pair. I really like the motion 4 or 6 they have at best buy but they are 245 each

I'm running Polk Monitor 60s in my 13x16 dedicated media room. I'm happy with them.

My setup is:
L/R: Monitor 60s
Center: CS10 (but I want a CS2)
Surround: Monitor 30
Rear: Polk OWM3
Sub: Bic F12

Having heard the Polk Monitors, I would go for something else. The treble was shrill as was the mids, and the bass was poor. I haven't heard the Cambridge, but I wouldn't want something with 4.5" bass drivers to try to tackle a room like that.
