Hi everybody i have some questions and i hope there is someone who could help me out.

Just to begin with, I'm a newbie when it comes to audio and setting up a audio system at home.

A fews weeks ago i bought a new tv for my PS4 (Sony Bravia W650)

So now i’m looking for a decent sound system with a good bass  I'm mainly buying it for gaming (and some movies), i’m playing a lot of shooters, so a good bass is important .

Since I'm a student my budget is limited..

I was thinking of these 2 setups:

1) Pioneer HTP-072 (complete package and the and the cheapest option)

2) Receiver: Sony STR-DH540 or Sony STR-DH740
    Speakers: Pioneer S-HS100 5.1

Which setup will be best for gaming ? Is option 2 worth the extra money ?

I found out that the HTP-072 has a passive sub and the S-HS100 an active sub,  will that affect the sound quality?

I’m not demanding, so i’m not looking for top-notch sound quality.

I just want a little more bass/sound quality that's all. Standard TV speakers are terrible.

This will be my first sound system so any tips or advice is appreciated

btw, english is not my native language, so if i misspelled something  let me know :)

Out of those two options, I would go for the setup with the active sub. Either receiver would be fine, although if you're not set on Sony there may be other options from Denon, Yamaha, etc.

What is your budget?

Do you need surround sound?

You could look into computer speakers like the Logitech Z623 and get a decent 2.1 package for a great price.

Also, I'd never use a passive subwoofer. That just sounds like it would be very underwhelming.

Hello,

I am also on a budget I went with the Sony STR-DH740 and really enjoy it for the price its great. I chose to get Polk Audio PSW10 for my sub woofer again for the price you cant beat it.

My set up is as follows,

 Sony-STR-DH740-Channel-Receiver-Black

 Polk-Audio-TSi300 x2

 Polk-Audio-10-Inch-Monitor-Subwoofer

 Polk-Audio-On-Wall-Speaker x2

 Polk-Audio-Center-Channel-Speaker

It sound great and for a reasonable price
