I've currently got three Episode in-walls behind the 110" Dragonfly screen. I'm used to listening to a trio of Aperion 5T's across the front in my family room and honestly, there's something that bugs me about my basement setup. The midrange just sounds "off"....putting back boxes on them helped a bit but I'm left feeling like things could be better.

I'm after something with impact. The LF duties are handled by four 18" drivers in an infinite baffle line array. So, impact to me means midbass....the tactile upper bass that causes you to jump when watching a movie. I've been considering putting in a trio of Emotiva's new Stealth 6 powered speakers but that's not as each as swapping out the inwalls.

Any suggestions for what might fit the bill for a high impact inwall for movies? Looking at $500/ea (or less).

That's actually a great idea. I'd love a proper horn and 10 or 12" mid bass. Any idea if there are any proven designs out there? I'm good with DIY right up to but not including modeling the design.

The design I linked to has been measured and is completed. Just pm the designer tuxedocivic for any info, he'll gladly pass it onto you.

You can build a box for that speaker. PM tuxedocivic for more details.

They're rated here #1 and #2 above a lot of very high end speakers:

They're not just regular speakers with horn tweeters, they're fully horn loaded, woofers and all, more like Klipsch LaScalas than Heresys.
