I am finishing up basement entertainment room, TV/BAR/Pool Table, not a home theater. Walls and ceiling are currently open. Walls have 2x4 studs installed.
I would like a decent sound, but clearly I am not looking for perfection.
The room is 13x30 with openings in the middle and 2 windows. Under 2K for sure, but would like the number to be closer to 1K for 5.1 speaker set.

No floorstanders? No bookshelf speakers with rear ports? Space is at a premium? Afraid of pool sticks punching drivers? (actually that could be just as bad with in-walls as boxes if you have pool playing friends like I had when I had a pool table room wink.gif ). You don't like the aesthetics of speaker boxes? IMHO the versatility and sound quality of box speakers exceeds that of inwall (which can at least be at ear height) let alone in-ceiling; are you sure about where these speakers should be located or would you like the option of changing your mind later? smile.gif IB subwoofer would be the only in-wall/ceiling/floor speaker I'd consider personally.

Yes aesthetics mostly, plus something on the floor that is just there...
So forget about celling/in-wall. How about on the wall :-) Again not really a home theater quality, something to watch a game with, listen to some music...
Thanks

You should be able to get Paradigm inwalls for $1200-$1500 I would think.

My neighbors use these and they sound good.

And as far as quality of inwalls it's just like anything else how much do you want to spend.

We use James Lounspeaker and I can tell you these are great speakers and I would say no sacrifice of sound quality. IMHO

VSX-53, VSX-51,VSX-81 Pioneer Elites and Denon 1611
James loudspeaker inwalls main and future theater
Control4
Other speaker zones DefTech, Polk, Russound, Boston Acoustics
