I've been reading these forums for about a year, but I've never posted anything. Since reading these forums I have purchased the Outlaw LFM-1plus, Panasonic 60GT50, and the Yamaha RX-A2020. I love all 3 of these components. Currently my speakers are the following (all Polk): TSI300 fronts, CS10 center, Owm 5 surrounds and rears. My dedicated theater room is about 2,800sf with no openings to other rooms (except doors). My room is about 50/50 music to HT. Though I do think everything sounds very nice, I would like to upgrade my center and fronts for better mid-range and sharpness. It seems some think all the speakers should have comparable tweeters, while others think as long as the fronts and centers match, the surrounds and rears will be okay.
So the 2 fronts I have been looking into are the Focul Chorus 727V available at accessories4less at $900/pair. This is at the absolute ceiling of my budget. The polk ebay site has the RTI10 for $670/pair. Whichever fronts I get I will get a matching center.
I get that the MSRP of the Foculs is considerably higher than the Polks. Is it reasonable to think YPAO on the RX-A2020 could balance the difference between the Foculs and my Polk surrounds?

You would also need to get the Focal center speaker to go with the towers. The surrounds wont matter as much.

For 50/50 music & Home Theater, I would lean towards Focal

Mix surrounds are OK for Home Theater - not really recommended for music

The Yamaha will level match the surrounds and rears to the front - it will not timbre match them.
The Focal will be nice for 2.0/2.1 music, or 3.0/3.1 music. > For Home Theater, the full system
should still sound nice.

Thanks for the replies. With music I have the receiver set to straight decode and 90hz crossover for the fronts.

I ordered tgecFocal 727v and the cc701. Since I ordered that combo I get a free Mordaunt short aviano 10" sub. Does anyone have any experience with this sub? I wonder if I should sell it or use it in zone 2, which is back ground music.

Check the sub out first - zone 2 or whatever, before you decide to sell it

Can you use a sub in zone 2 with that receiver?

Yes, I would run the speaker cables to the sub then to the speakers. I have an old small Yamaha sub I use there now.
