Found a local deal on some mint 600 S3's, and I'm thinking about picking them up. I just picked up some 602 S3's, and I'm moving my 601 S3's to the sides. As of now, I don't have anything (sensible) for the rears.

I was thinking about picking up another pair of 601's for the rear, but given their limited usage, should I save $100-150 (or likely 200 after shipping) and go for the 600's?

Thanks for any input smile.gif

I would say go for it.
Sure the 601 would be a better match but then again your not facing the speakers and your hearing is less accurate.
My self, my side and back suuronds are the same but money was no object.
So save a couple of hundred I would go for it in your situation and like you said they do have limited usage.
I am the type that if a movie is 5.1, I leave it at that and do not force it into 7.1.
When a movie is 7.1, I look at it as bonus.

Hope this help a little.

Helps a bunch...in the meantime I've found some other stuff confirming the limited use of the rears. Gonna save the cash and try to nab these!

Paid just over $200. Average for the last 10 pairs on eBay was $227, plus shipping. Considering $50-60 is the going rate for shipping 60x's, this was a no brainer for some mint ones!

If you think that's good, I managed to pick up a brand new looking pair of 602 s3's, a single LCR 60 s3 and the matching ASW600 s3 sub on Craig's list for $100! They all look mint and hardly used. I almost had a heart attack when I first got home with them.

OP, if you've never experienced them, I would suggest looking into a decent pair of dipoles/bipoles for your rears. After switching to both for my rear and surround channels a few years ago, I'll never go back!
