For any members using either of the above speakers what crossover value are you using? Can these both be crossed over at or below 80hz?

KEF lists the Q300 good to 42hz - however they do not list the roll-off numbers (+ or -) with that spec. I'd say you could safely set them to 80 or 60hz easily. Maybe even 50hz. For movies I set my large tower speakers that play down to 36hz + or - 3db to 80hz on the crossover. It sounds great but then I have 2 large subs to fill in the low end. I've experimented and find I like it that way. For music - different story. No subs - usually.

When all else fails - RTFM!

Probably the best place to ask your question would be in the KEF Owners Thread. I'm sure someone there would be able to answer that for you.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite

One issue to recall is that the sound, particularly of the LF, is highly dependent on the particular placement in your particular room.  Rated LF rolloff is usually assessed under anechoic or quasi-anechoic conditions and not typical rooms.  So, when you ask for recommendations from other users, try to get them to describe room size/dimensions and how the speakers and listener are situated.

KEF lists these speakers as flat down to 49Hz for Q100 and 42Hz for Q300 (+/- 3db) so it would seem they could be easily crossed over below 80Hz but I wanted to check on other's real world experience because of the issues you mentioned... not for recommendations for setup but rather for purchase evaluation. Thanks
