THX set a standard and that standard has not changed. Just see what THX spec the item has and you're good to go. Some of those PC speakers just might hit THX specs in a small office that is 8x8 or something. Go to your local theater and then go to a THX certified theater and then come tell us THX is just a "logo".

I take the thx rooms specs seriously. Ultra gear is nice.

As for op check out the sierra towers

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

Hopefully not too seriously since it's just a hobby.

Seriously as in more serious than the THX logo on equipment lol but in general, all the auditoriums I have been to that are THX certified sounded pretty darn good

In Bill's defense: He did specifically pick on the consumer THX spec, not the pro spec.

If the OP is still looking for towers, I own a set of Focal Chorus 826Vs and can heartily recommend them for music.

Music Direct has the 826V is ebony vinyl for $1619 per pair shipped.

MD has now lowered the price on the 836V in gloss black for $1999.

Between these two I'd probably opt for the gloss black 836V.
