I picked up some older B&W Speakers yesterday and I am a newbie and could use advise and information while I learn abuot my system. My experience in Home Theater is very limited coming from a cheaper Yamaha Theater in a box setup I think the Yamaha was the 6040 with a 5:1 setup of Yamaha speakers.

My new setup is some older speakers. The speakers are the 150 watt Bowers and Wilkins tower speakers DM603 S3 along with three 100 watt satellite B & W speakers VM1 ( one center and two on a stand). I bought these without much research but the price of only $400 for the whole setup seemed to good to pass up. I also picked up a Yamaha rx-v675 that I got for $300. All I have done is setup the system using 18 gage wire for the speakers and used 3 HDMI hookups (One for the dish, One for a roku3 and finally one for a ChromeCast.

So far I have ran Yapo and setup the speakers with the Fronts set to large (I have no subwoofer yet). To me the system sounds great but with what I am going from I would assume it would. I would like to get the most out of these speakers and I hope the Yamaha will power them and I am not sure if I need a amp to the DM603 S3's. I am also not sure about a subwoofer on what I need. I would appreciate any input from you guys on what you would suggest I could or should do. The room it is in is fairly large and open The fronts are toward each side of the 24 ft widith and the rears are beside the 2 recliners about 12 ft from the Home Entertainment Cente with the room extending another 10 ft to the back entrance or opening.. I hope I have given enough information to get me started and all comments, suggestions etc are welcome. Thanks in advance and looking forward to learning a lot smile.gif. I hope I have posted this in the right place for what I am looking for.

Yes, basically looking for advice on would you add an amp or subwoofer, or do I need both or neither. I think I have the basic setup covered but being new to this I am not positive about much. Just hoping for feedback and ideas. I have been reading a lot and just upgraded my firmware on the receiver. Taking things as they come up and I learn more. Sorry if I am sound undecided but I guess until I learn more about the system it is hard to be to specific.
