I am currently running a Denon avrx-1000 to power a 5.1 channel theatre system. I recently added 4 outdoor Yamaha Ns-aw150 rated at 6ohms 35-120 watts. I want to use the pre out of the denon as a zone 2 for the outdoor speakers. I know that I need a separate amp to power zone 2 but I have no clue on what amp to get. several people said that my amp needs to be 50% bigger than my speakers. Only problem is that those are $400 dollars and up. On the other hand, if I go with a 50watt amp I am afraid of running all the speakers at once and burning up my amp. I also have a monster 6 pair speaker switch that, to my knowledge, can be used to protect the amp.
If someone could help me sort this out that would be great.
