Ok guys, I have a decision to make and need some help. I picked up a pair of Klipsch B-10's for super cheap on black friday with the intent on moving them to the rear once I got my front set up. I ordered the Cambridge Audio S-50 center channel and was not really that impressed. I would say it was on par with the b-10's but I guess I was just expecting an upgrade seeing that I paid 2x as much. Anyway A4L sent me the wrong color speaker so I have an opportunity to return it and am thinking I should maybe go in a different direction. So here's the deal, I have a projector and 41" of clearance below the screen so I could go with 3 towers up front if that is what is recommended. Please keep in mind that I don't want to spend more than 200 a piece. Do you guys think I should go with the 3 tower setup? and if so which ones? I'm not sure about Cambridge Audio now but maybe the S70 would be a little different? Anyway, thanks in advance for the opinions!

Peace

HTD Level TWO towers, and at this time they have B-stock towers for 70 off

http://www.htd.com/Products/level-two-speakers/Level-TWO-Tower-Speakers

Level Two center

http://www.htd.com/Products/level-two-speakers/Level-TWO-Center-Channel-Speaker

Or Level Three bookshelves

http://www.htd.com/Products/level-three-speakers/Level-THREE-Bookshelf-Speakers

Level Three center, which i find very, very good

http://www.htd.com/Products/level-three-speakers/Level-THREE-Center-Channel-Speaker

i reread your post, three towers would be good since you can actually use a center tower.

I have not heard the Cambridge, but people tend to like them, even that center, so....

just a recommendation here, others will chime in with others

The s70 towers with the s50 center would sound much better than the s50 paired with Klipsch B10 bookshelf speakers.

3 s70 towers would be great since you have the space.

Or 3 Level Two towers.

Do you have a subwoofer in the mix?

Judging a Cambridge Center with Klipsch Bookshelf - is not the recommended way
to evaluate certain speakers - matching the 3 fronts is a better option

Most people do like and enjoy Cambridge - however, their are some who do not.

HTD is also a nice option

Go with the same three across the front. L / C / R being the same speaker unless the center has to be horizontal to fit in a stand, etc.

I wasn't saying I don't like the cambridge I was just expecting a little more because it seemed pretty much on-par with the b-10's and I got those for 80 bucks from frys. Those level two's look nice. I've never heard of that brand. I'm still looking at three s70's bc A. it's hard to beat that price, and B the center channel on the cambridge just sounds a little sharp to me possibly because of the smaller sized woofers. I do have a sub. A lava 12" and a marantz 1403 reciever

the S70's do look nice for the price.

the only thing going against them is if you dont like them, i dont know A4L return policy, and most likely you will have to pay shipping back and on three towers that would be quite expensive.

while HTD will pay shipping back, but not on towers unless you call them first and ask them to agree to pay shipping back. their customer service is first rate and they have agreed to pay shipping back for others on the towers.

you are lucky you can use 3 towers for the front as most of us cant.

read the fine print tho, they state they do not cover shipping back on towers.

call them and ask for Chris Ashmore i think his ext. is 205, tell him Mark Stamper referred you and ask him to agree on paying the shipping back on the towers if you dont like them... but i think you will love them. their cherry veneer is outstanding, but you might want the black lacquer.

also right now they have B-stock Level two towers in cherry for $70 off. also they have a 10% discount on all speakers with a code. sale2014 or something like that, ask them

For a $600 front LCR, some brands to look at: Arx A1b and A2rx, Hsu HB-1 and HC-1, Ascend CBM-170 and CMT-340

Hey Mark, just wanted to let you know I got the level two towers center and now I gotta get the surrounds because these speakers are awesome! Got the red and man they look good too. Great suggestion. Do you have those Di-poles? I was thinking about going that route but not sure if they're suited for my set-up. Thanks!

Awesome man!

as for dipoles they need to be positioned correctly for their full effect or they are really a waste. meaning that you should be sitting in the NULL of the speaker, that meaning the front "V" of the speaker should be horizontally across from you seating position and your ears.

for what its worth Dolby no longer recommends them.

+1 complete the setup really no reason for the dipoles, unless you can position them correctly, HTD would tell you the same thing.

What order would you put these in: HTD Level 2, Polk Monitor70s, Cambridge s70s?

Is there a noticable seperation or disparity between the three.
