Jeff going to make this GTG? Maybe help with optimal setup?

Was a final decision made on the SH50's attending? If so, any chance of Tom or Ivan showing up to help with optima setup?

Geeze Pop, you don't ask for much do you!...lol

Oh, we're optimizing too? I thought we wanted to give the other speakers a chance?

I talked to Jeff a month or so ago before the 215's arrived and he said to let him know if we did another event and he would try and come.

lol... Well doesn't the "london" processor optimize the JBL's for any room they are thrown in?

Not Automagically, but yes, some measurements, some PEQ, and "We have a winner!"

Seriously though, if we have only two speakers and everyone is OK with optimization of each within a reasonable time frame, I think it is a good idea.

Its a dam fine idea. I can see Jeff being there but have a hard time envisioning JBL sending someone. Would be awesomely cool if they did.

I can certainly see Jeff attending, but also agree it would be unlikely that JBL would be able to send someone out. Does that give an unfair advantage having only one rep for setup?

As of now the votes stand in favor of keeping the 'Thrilla at Gorilla' limited to JBL vs. JTR's finest.

GD - A few setup questions for ya:

What power requirements are needed for the Crown amps?

XLR only connections I assume?

Are the internal DSP/crossover settings defeatable? If so, it's possible we could use the same amps for both the JBLs and JTRs.

Yea, they're defeatable. But I wasn't sure the M2 Crown amps were good enough for the 215's. Don't they require special clean power? @popalock

Oh, XLR and speakon or wire speaker connections

I wouldn't be surprised, but of coarse it would start with an invite.

No no... Using the same amp for both speakers would be awesome...However, therein lies a problem.

Aren't the M2's technically 8ohm where the 215RT's are 4ohm?

I mean, the iTech5000HD can definitely handle both contenders, but is it fair that the 215RT's will have 2,500watts on tap vs the M2? Can we all agree that would still be considered a level playing field???

Listen to me doing all of this talking... I'm not even going to be there!!!

Totally level! Both speakers should have everything they need to reach their full potential. And that would do it. This is all about 20 guys coming together to listen to the best these two speakers have to offer. Let the chips fall where they may.

The M2s get 1200 watts per driver, plus no crossover loss. Should be fine.

Yea, but none of that matters. All that matters is that both speakers have what they need to reach their full potential.

I want to hear the best these two great speakers have to offer, not some gimped version of one or the other. If the 215 has the output of 4 OS's and the M2 has the output of a Bose module I'll be high fiving over the 215 like everyone else.

Yeah, I like the M2 and I think I like busting balls about it around here even more , but it's just a speaker and I didn't make it, so I have no skin in the game aside from my decision to buy it. And yea, I hope it's proven justified, but if not I can live with that . I just like kick @ss speakers, so I'm looking forward to the 215 as much as anyone.

Can we post about the other GTG in the other GTG's thread?

If you take yourself too seriously, expect me to do the exact opposite

It's Space-"R" for us civilian depentent types. Just got my daughter on a Space-R flight a few weeks ago. It was free AND she got an upgrade to first class to chill with the O-6 and above crowd... I was thinking, man...If I swing that kind of luck everytime I'd be taking leave without pay to come to every GTG....lol.

No doubt no doubt. I always turn the light off when I use Rillz restroom... Let the dancing amp lights provide the ambiance. Makes aiming a bit harder, but I have night vision anyway.

IB restroom is imminent...

2 24" subs in the crapper IB would be EPIC even for AVS.
