Here's where I'm at now:

34 x 12 room (main HT is 14 x 12 in the middle - 10 feet open on each side, walls all four sides)

Onto to the pressing issue I'm having. I'm leaning toward in-wall speakers but would want to buy enclosed speakers or install enclosures. Which is better? More bang for the buck?

What about enclosed speakers? All the searching is racking my brain. What are a few great choices for $300 each LCR and surrounds? Again, best quality for the dough? Budget is $1500.

Loving the idea of either 1 or 2 SVS PB-1000s or 1 SVS PB-2000 for a sub choice. What's better? One 2000 or two 1000s?

I guess I'm looking/wondering if in-wall speakers should be set in enclosures or be the enclosed back (steel) style speaker. I don't know how the open cavity affects the quality.

I would encourage you to put shelves on the walls and use speakers with properly-designed enclosures.

NO in-wall speaker the I have ever seen has a properly-designed enclosure, and the performance is badly compromised.

That's not what you need for a room that large.

Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers are $350 per pair. I suggest that you get four of those, and the 10CC center speaker ($249).
