I need some help deciding between audioengine P4, PSB Image B4 and NHT superzeros for a 50W amp ( nuforce DDA-100 ). Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to listen to any of them and will have to purchase them online, unauditioned. Does anyone have any thoughts on which of these three would be best for a digital amp? This will be for a non-desktop set up. I'm looking for something with reasonably good detail, clarity and natural tones. It doesn't have to room filling, not that I expect any of these would be. I do plan on adding a small sub if lack of bass becomes a significant problem. Thanks in advance for any input!
The Image B4s would have a better low end response. I don't know anything about the Audioengines.
If you can find a pair of Cambridge S30s, they would be great as they have decent bass to at least 60hz.
Klipsch RF-62II, RC-500, RS-400, SVS PC12+,
Def Tech SC8000
Harman Kardon AVR 1600
PS3, Apple TV, Sharp 70" Qattron
At this price point I would easily recommend the Cambridge Audio S30 (I kept a pair and currently use them as my bedroom speakers). The S30 is currently on closeout at http://www.accessories4less.com/ so it's actually cheaper than the others at the moment.
I've got the PSB Image T5s and the C5 currently running in my living room setup and have had the B5s in the past and have heard the B4s. I really like the PSB speakers, I find that they are very neutral and clean with a wonderful crisp sound. But I can't speak about the other speakers you are asking about.
The S30's have gone up in price by $30 I believe...but still a good deal...
Ah, indeed they have (by $20 I think) ... you might try calling accessories4less and asking for the older price of $179 a pair.
That definitely seems like a good choice, for the reasons others talked about regarding bass response.
