Are these small bookshelfs from SVS really the best at the price? I am considering them in a 2.1 setup where I listen to music and movies. I am pretty picky about my sound with music and I have owned more expensive stuff in the past, but SVS claims these are for very picky people.

Anyone tried them, experience?

For the same price as those, I would be going for some KEFs, Philharmonitors, or Ascend siarras. I would also be looking at Mackie HR monitors.

That is their claim - speakers/sound quality is subjective - I have not listened to them

There is no so-called best at any price point - ID or Retail

Monitor Audio and Focal are some other good options to check

Finding good deals on close-out prices, is another way to shop

+1 all the brands suggested are also excellent options at that price point and a little lower

Note though, the Mackie's are active (i.e. powered) speakers and will only work with a receiver that has pre-out's.

You can try them for 45 days. Won't cost you anything but some time if you don't like them. Maybe get some other speakers too and compare them.
