In terms of powering them I have narrowed it down to the Onkyo tx-nr818 and the Marantz 5008 as I want to have the option of adding an emotiva xpa-5 in the future. Thoughts on which reliever to go with? I can get the Onkyo for 920 delivered and the Marantz locally for ~750 or so.
As for the surrounds I see the klipsch website pairs the RS 52's with those towers but they seem pretty pricey at $950 a pair. Would I be better off picking up a pair of RS 42's for ~450 and putting that money into a subwoofer?
With regards to a subwoofer, what would be a good match? I want to keep it under 1k shipped (live in canada so assuming I will pay $150 plus) so ~800.
The 818 has more features and a better version of audyssey, but "had" HDMI issues as reported by users.
I'd go for the RS42s or the RS400s (like I have, which are actually the previous version of the RS42) if they are cheaper. I paid $300 for my pair from Amazon.
I'd spend the extra money on a sub. A good sub will make much more difference than the surrounds. You can always up the level on the surrounds if they're not loud enough. My room is smaller so I only had to add +1db to the surrounds.
For a sub in Canada I'd look at a SVS sub from sonicboom (SVS' Canadian dealer). The PB2000 would fit your budget and would do a nice job in your room.
