Yes. Because they are sealed, you can mount them up directly to the wall more easily. Rear-ported speakers like the CBM-170 SEs need some breathing room. That, and the CMB-170 SEs are DEEP in size (check the measurements), making them awkward to wall mount smile.gif

Excellent choice sir! If money is an issue at present, start with a pair of 340's and the Rythmik only. Coming from a HTIB to a quality 2.1 setup, you won't be able to wipe the grin off your face for weeks before you really feel the need to add surrounds.

+1. They're also $50 cheaper/pair, give away very little in performance to the 170's and are more than adequate for surrounds in an average sized room.

That sounds like the best plan at the moment. Idk when I'll be able to purchase them since I'm trying to pay off my car right now, but now I can sleep at night knowing that I'm picking a quality set of speakers for my budget. I was thinking about the Sierra-1's, but they are just to much for me right now. So thanks everyone for all your help, and I will let you know how I think of them whenever I get them, (whenever that may be) smile.gif

There are many stands that you can use to mount the 170s at the proper height. The 170 were the same price as the 200 for a while. I see they are $50 more now. Plus about $50 for stands that will make the 170s about $100 more. But if you are spending $2000 and will be listening to music 40% of the time I encourage you to get the 170s. They are superior to the 200s in every way. They will match the sound of the 340s better, better bass, larger soundstage, better dynamics, play louder and can handle more power.
The 200s are fine speakers and if wall mounting is important to you then get them. But if you want the best speaker, especially for music, the 170s are worth the extra money.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Thanks for the input. Do you have any suggestions for stands? I've looked around and can't find any that go high enough. Aren't they supposed to go like 2 feet above the viewers head for ideal surround sound? Or is that a myth? tongue.gif

Not a myth. More of a suggestion. Doesnt make it ideal for you and your room and is not a critical decision making factor. In fact for music its suggested that the tweeter is at head height. What height is your head when sitting at the listening position?
What is the surround situation as a whole? Please describe?

Hmm that's a good question, I'll have to see when I get home today from work. And my room is kind of awkwardly setup. I'll have to upload some pics because it's hard to describe lol. But I think I can make it work. I was just going for the wall mount because of the height thing, but if it's not crucial, then I can get stands. Those are more flexible anyway.

Something like this would work fine. They adjust to 44".
