I think we'll do it random and also tailor it a little around what Nathan's time table is like, after all he's been kind enough to go out of his way to bring some speakers. We'll make sure all speakers get equal time and we can also go back and hear them again after we're done if anyone wanted to hear a certain speaker again.

Sure I don't see why you couldn't bring your hard drive, I'm thinking we'll get started around 11am. Shoot me a pm and I'll give you my address.

I'm not sure but I can't wait to hear them! I have talked with Ryan about building something similar but using 12" drivers and a SEOS-12 waveguide.

Well I was able to confirm one thing about the Tempest and JTR 228HT's, I know that they are both claimed to be 98dB sensitivity.
Well as I suspected the 228HT's are about 1dB higher sensitivity, with my REW & UMIK-1 mic up and running I measured both setup from my center channel position. The 228HT was consistently between 1.0-1.1 higher and once the mic read 0.9dB difference, so I think it's safe to say it's 1dB higher. I don't really see that as much of an issue though.

I also took two measurements on the center channels both in the exact same position, here's the graph. The green is the Tempest and pink is the 228HT, the graph has 1/12th smoothing applied. I don't really know how to exactly read the graph as I'm still learning and I'm sure my room has a lot to do with how the graph looks too.

How many watts are are you planning to put into that 98db sensitivity?

Have you tried moving them further away from solid objects to lessen interaction with the room?
I don't know much about the stuff, perhaps there is some cancellation causing that 7db ish dip @ 400

Joe,
Will you have a playlist you can post before the gtg ? I could then print it off and it would make it easier for me when making notes on each speaker.

No, I was really hoping someone could help out in this department. I life has just been crazy lately, and having a wife that's 7 months prego and having one 3yr girl and 6yr boy doesn't leave me with much time to put one together.

You up for it Donny? You are on summer holidays after all...lol It would be greatly appreciated

yeah for sure I can help. how do you want me to go about it. how long do you want the playlist ? how many songs, how many movies ?

maybe I should start a separate thread and we can get others input. just let me know what you want. will you have the flac files and mkv files ?

just point me in the right direction and I can run with it.

I was thinking we should try to keep the playlist to around 30-40mins, that way every speaker will get a good run through and if anyone wanted to hear a different speaker again we could go back after and listen to them again. We also don't have to listen to full songs, 1/2 or 2/3 of a song will let people know how they sound. I was thinking maybe 2-3 movie clips plus a certain amount of songs while keeping the 30-40min time frame in mind.

I don't have flac or mvk files, just my CD's, Blu-rays and iTunes stuff...lol

Warren was saying that we can use his HTPC so maybe you want to talk with him about this? I'm down for what ever everyone else wants. Hopefully some of the guys attending will weigh in too.

I don't think my room treatments will be here in time for the GTG too, so I'm a little bummed about that

Ok, I have a tonne of stuff now and it will be fun narrowing it down for the playlist. I need a couple of things from Joe and the rest of the people attending. Joe what ratio do you want of music to movie clips for the 35-40 minute playlist ? 25 min of music vs 15 min of movies ? Let me know what you want.

For everyone else attending if you want a song/movie on the playlist because its your go to piece then add it here. I will get it for sure but may not include it in the original playlist. I will have tonnes of material on my hard drive that we can go to.

In a couple of days I will post my initial playlist and we can edit from there. This is great for me cuz I have wanted a demo reel for people who come over to check it out.
