I am putting together a 2.1 system for my apartment. Please let me know what you think the best speakers are to pair with what I already have.

Sources: Roku 3, ancient Insignia Blu-Ray player (looking to replace eventually), Xbox 360

AVR: Yamaha HTR-3066 (equivalent to V375)

Sub: Klipsch RW12D 12-inch Reference Subwoofer (plan to connect wirelessly using the rocketfish subwoofer kit from best buy)

Speakers:

Infinity Primus 363 ordered @ 214 for the pair from Fry's. They are backordered and I am getting impatient and starting to doubt they will ever be in stock as Amazon is out too.

Polk Audio TSx 330T- Can be had for 250 a pair currently, and look quite nice, wish the cherry was on sale too though

Pioneer SP-FS52-LR Andrew Jones- Can be had for ~260 pair

BIC America Venturi DV64- 255 pair, have not been able to find much about these

Klipsch Synergy F-10- 300 pair, and this is about the upper edge of my price range

Is there anything else I should be looking at? I am willing to wait a bit, but want to have speakers in the next week or two.

I would put the Cambridge S70 on a short list - Cambridge makes good stuff

I actually own the Cambridge S30's for my computer 2.1 setup. I am very happy with those, but I have not seen all that many pro reviews of the S70. I have also heard that maybe I should just consider bookshelves instead (something from EMPtech perhaps).

What is your max budget?

I prefer to be around 220 as the current purchase I have with Fry's. I can ease that up to the 300 range, but really no higher than 320 or so. If need be I can wait a bit for a deal to pop up, for example I know the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers were 70 each on amazon just a week ago.

I am absolutely thrilled with the BIC DV-64s. Tight, punchy bass, drums hit hard, and electric guitars sound like they are hooked up to an amp in your room (acoustic guitars sound great too). They have a nice raw, organic sound to them.

There are lots of reviews on Amazon and other shopping sites.

Samsung PN50C7000
Yamaha RX-V775WA
BIC Venturi DV64 Towers
BIC Venturi DV62 CLRs Center

Still building but sounds amazing so far

In that price range, I would recommend the Pioneer speakers for the best sound quality; they are very good.

Most of the others you have in your list pretty much suck, IMO.

An OPPO player would sound a lot better and have better video performance.

The RW12D is good.

Well, you said you are real happy with the Cambridge - they are one of the top ones
around for your limited budget. I prefer them over the Pioneer bookshelf and towers.

However, it seems like you want to do something different - one option is Wave Crest

I like the idea of the HVL-1, but it sure is going for substance over form. Not exactly a bad speaker in any way, just want something a bit more attractive.

I have the EMP Tek E5Bi on a short-list currently, partially due to reviews and partially the looks.

Commsysman, are you saying the Pioneers are the only good speakers in the list including the Primus 363 or excluding them?

Is anyone able to reccommend something significantly better at a slightly higher price range? Most significant others would not consider 300 all that limited though, even though I know it is.

Many people have an excellent view of the P363 speaker.

I can only speak for SP-FS51-LR, maybe it is relevant to SP-FS52-LR as well. I had to add central speaker for movies, since couldn't get enough speech clarity with 2.0. (instrumental music was fine, though).

Agreed about p363 having great reviews. I am just having some doubts about Fry's delivering them to me on time. I don't want to be like some people who got the same deal from Amazon in March and had their order shipped just a few days ago. Tonight I will take a listen to the Pioneer's and Polks mentioned above just to see what they are like.

Blade, I appreciate the offer, but if sticking with the Primus 363, I will just try to wait it out for Fry's to actually send them.
