Upgrading to 7.1. Need two more speakers.

Bought a Sony STR-DN1040 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver to replace my old Yamaha reciever. I have Paradigm monitor 7's for fronts and mini monitors for rears, which are getting quite old now. I was thinking of getting some Polk Audio Monitor 45B for the extra surrounds. Do you think they will pair ok with the rest?

Not sure how much longer my Paradigms are going to hold out. Not sure just how old they are but been many years. Seems like alot of people like Polk speakers. I would like to get my new surrounds to match what I might be getting in the future to replace my other speakers.

It may be ok, it may not… just no way of knowing how well those Polk's will sound with the Paradigm's. Personally, I would stick with Paradigm's…. The Monitor 7's are good speakers, so unless you spend significant $, it's going to be more of an incremental change (not necessarily better, but different for sure).

Speakers can last for MANY years… the main issues you will have over time is surrounds (foam and rubber will dry up) and caps in the cross-over. Easy fixes that won't cost much.

Guess may be better to buy used mini monitors on ebay.
