Need some speaker wire recommendations

Hello all,

Im buying a new set (tv, receiver, speakers).

I would like to get some speaker wire recommendations.

Im only really going to be running 2 bookshelves and a center channel (living in an apartment and I fear a sub will go through the walls)

I ordered a Denon X1000 receiver, Sony core SSCS8 center channel, and Sony Core SSCS5. Someone in another thread recommended them as being pretty decent for the price so i followed that advice as i could get them from BB along with my TV and everything else. The speakers will be within 10 feet of the receiver (if not less).

Regular copper speaker wire is fine.

You can order 16 awg speaker wire from Monoprice
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_i...seq=1&format=2

Or, go to RadioShack or the hardware store - and have them cut enough (copper) speaker wire for you.

I try to avoid copper-clad-aluminum wire > aluminum does not have the same conductivity as copper.

Any copper wire will do. Use 16 ga or larger.

Beware of the bulk wire with the clear sheath sold by B&M retailers like Home Depot or Lowes IF you plan on running this stuff in an attic. After about 10 years or so in my attic, the copper discolored and started to turn green in places. I guess a combination of the rubber reacting with the copper plus running it up into attic caused the wire to go bad.

If you are going in-wall to attic or crawl space, then get CL2/CL3 rated wire. Now I use CL2/CL3 rated wire for ALL of my wire since it has a nice, round sheath that looks really professional when covered with TechFlex. There is a whole thread on how to make your own cables.

HD-DVD = 94
Blu-Ray = 120 ( 24 Warner red2blu )

Usual suggested reading around here on the subject of wire http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm

"I realize that somebody playing free music isn't as commercial as a hamburger stand. But is it because you can eat a hamburger and hold it in your hand and you can't do that with music? Is it too free to control?" - Don Van Vliet (aka Captain Beefheart) discussing commercial success in the music biz

Why is shipping so expensive from monoprice? that 16 gauge spool is cheaper than the shipping cost on their site

Shipping costs what it costs. It has nothing to do with the cost of what is being shipped. It is just a matter of weight and dimensions.

I'm assuming because of its weight and the shipping they provide. Still, at $22 that's a pretty good deal. I typically wait and buy a lot from them to make up for it.
