Matching fronts and rears?

I know it's very important to match the fronts with the center, but how important is it to match the surrounds and rear surrounds with the fronts??

Most of you know I just purchased 2 PB-2000's and the SVS center which sounds phenomenal. Next I will be grabbing a pair of the SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers for the fronts which are $499/each. I have no problem saving for them since my theater won't be finished for awhile, but is it worth saving to get matching rears as well??

Also, it will be a 7.2 system. So matching would make me dig a bit deeper into my pockets.

For my HT, I use identical Boston A40 Series II all around. Yes, I know, these are 25 year-old speakers. But the sound field is seamless. I keep them alive with woofer repair kits and occasional new tweeters, all readily available on eBay.

Since there is much less content in surrounds and rears, and much different content, I wouldn't worry too much about matching them. The front L/C/R I consider more important as so much of the dialogue and action spans or pans those three.

It's not always possible to have matching rears speakers; they may not produce standmounts or dedicated surrounds, they're end of line.

My own view is that the surround channels are not very important. I don't think it makes a bit of difference whether they match anything or not.
