Center Channel Advice

Hey ya'll!

I'm currently running a Polk Audio CS-350 center channel. Two of the speakers seem to be blown. They produce sound, but they rumble like they are on their way out. So I'm looking to either fix it or get a new center channel.

Here's what I'm running

Denon AVR 591
Infinity Kappa 6.2 II in front
Polk R30s in the rear

Now apparently polk no longer makes replacement drivers for the cs-350, and I could not for the life of me find them anywhere. I've check ebay, lots of audio shops, tons of websites, and nothing. I really do love this speaker though, its HUGE (holds 4 speakers and a tweeter), its heavy, and it looks really really good in my living room.

I have 2 options really:
1) recycle the cabinet because I really like it and get some different speakers, route bigger hole. This would obviously change the tonality of the speaker, especially with a tweeter already built in tuned to the originals.
2) sell this for scap/parts and get myself a new center channel. In that case, what would be reccomended for my setup? I've been told the BIC FH6-LCR is a good speaker. I want to stay in the $100-200 range if possible.

Thanks for the help!

Check parts express dot com to see if you can find a similar speaker driver that compares to the drivers in your Polk. If it's close in ohms, wattage ratings it may work with the current internal crossover. Contact Polk and see if they recommend a similar driver to use.

You should get the center that matches your Infinity kappa fronts! A mis matched front stage is not ideal.

There is an Infinity Kappa center here which would be closer than the Polk or Bic
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Infinity-Kap...item4ad8d9ed86

However the Crescendo center tweeter, would be a closer match - and the price is good

Bidding on that Crescendo now. Looks very similar to what I have. The polk is slowly dying. BUT, I have a great idea for a project for it.

I'm gonna turn it into an a bluetooth speaker. I'm gonna replace all the speakers, and put an amp and a bluetooth adapter in the speaker, and then run it off a power adapter. Should be plenty loud for any application.

Won the bidding on the crescendo. Excited to get it.

NOW! Let's figure out what to do with my Polk CS 350LS. I want to turn it into a frankenspeaker and build another 5.1 setup for my office. I have polk R30 rears now so I may use them as fronts with the cs350 and get a pair of inifinity kappas for the rear to have a really matching system.

Or I could:
Build a bluetooth amp into the polk speaker, replace all the drivers, and built a "portable" plug-in bluetooth speaker that can do $250 watts. It may weight a lot, but It'll be loud and great for the pool and whatnot. Might even integrate an ipod dock into it (like a Bose speaker dock almost). I just have to find the right drivers for it.
