crazyrob425 I agree. I have no problem with the OP not liking them, I've had plenty of speakers I didn't like that others thought were great, several Bostons I had come to mind, but those Polks would not normally sound as described. Something is wrong somewhere, and it may be as simple as the binding posts straps being loose.

I have listened extensively to the Monitor 40's/50's/70's at a friends place, also spent time with TSi's. When people say a speaker that is considered "bright" and you are experiencing a lack of highs something is wrong with the speakers or your set-up. People normally complain about Polks being too bright(too many highs( not lacking highs. Thats all.

You have broken speakers its not Polk releasing junk. I bet if you contacted their customer service they would get replacements out to you.

Enjoy the Klipsch KB-15's they are better suited for your needs. If you like their sound and they perform better they are what you should get.
Well there is something wrong with them, cause it is only hitting 10kHz and it sounds muffled.
I already put them on Craigslist hopefully they'll sell cause I don't wanna deal with the hassle of contacting tech support over it.

I bought the S30's hopefully this is a big improvement, I don't think the S30's will be as loud but I'm more about how clear and detailed it sounds.

Curt: I really wish you have jumped on the PSB B5's as they are discontinued & priced so right! The CA S30 are fine speakers, but for $50.00 more, you could have scored (& still can) a truly insane speaker for the coin!

I own the PSB B4's & the B6's. I bought them recently because they were being discontinued & on sale. PLEASE do yourself a favor & grab a pair of the PSB B5's in Dark Cherry (while you can!) They are so much better then the CA S30's! Just do it right now while you have the chance! They'll be gone within a day or so (if not sooner)

That really does sound like maybe the binding posts are not connected right with the connectors or that you have bad tweeters. That would be very easy to check.

I haven't heard either speaker, but What Hi Fi gave the Cambridge 5 stars and the PSB 4 because of what they described as a hardness to the treble.

My point isn't that they are right and you are wrong, it's that speakers are such a personal choice, that one persons favorite my be another persons worst. I hope the OP likes his choice, but it can be a crap shoot just going off of others recommendations. Room acoustics, care in setting up the speakers for the best sound, can make differences between why someone likes a certain speaker and another doesn't, and that's in addition to just personal preferences.

I will say What Hi Fi's glowing review of the JBL Studio 530 is what prompted me to finally try them out, and in this case, I agree 100% with their review of them.

Hopefully you alerted the new buyer of the issues they have and provide them with your original proof of purchase so they can get the speakers fixed.

As long as the S30's don't arrive broken like your Monitor 65t's did you will find them an improvement. You are comparing broken speakers to non-broken speakers FYI.

x2!
Could be as simple as tightening down binding posts on to the brass jumpers (Picture:
(These need to be in place and binding posts need to screwed tight against them. Some people forget to do that). Replacing the tweeter which Polk can easily ship to you and provide instructions on how to repair. Its easily done.

Considering the OP hasn't even reported back that he has at least checked the binding posts, and the straps and everything is good there, and confirmed the tweeters are in fact operational, it seems his mind is made up the Polks are junk. They may be, but there is still something not right with them to sound like they do.

I agree he should at least demo the speakers for any potential buyer.

Wouldn't be the first time someone on AVS reported their speakers lacking highs, and it was because they removed the connectors. The fact that he describes the sound as "only hitting 10kHz" sounds like the tweeters are not playing. The likelihood of both tweeters or the crossovers being broken is probably astronomical (unless he clipped his amp or over drove them). So user error seems the most likely problem, with improperly connected biwire post straps the first (and easy) thing to check.

Personally, I think it's a shame that he isn't working a little more to troubleshoot the problem. While I have never heard the 65Ts and I like the S30s for their price, I would think that the 65T could be the better speaker.

With a nice subwoofer - I will take the Cambridge S30 speaker, over all the working Polk Monitor speakers.

Actually these past few days I been getting a burning smell from my subwoofer.
And I don't even push it very hard.. Sounded good when I bought it though..
And sent a NXG and yet to receive a reply and they have no contact number.
And every day the sound from the sub is turning into a rumble noise instead of tight bass..
Might have to file a complaint through Amazon to get my money back for this Eh =/

Wow, your speaker luck is some of the worst I've heard of. If the Cambridge speakers take a dump in short order, you may want to look a lot closer into your setup.

From the looks of the reviews I'm not the only one having this issue with this sub =/

It may, or may not be a bad amp - if less than 30 days, then send it back for a refund.

There are some other sub options around - there have been some complaints about NXG service.

I'm guessing that is why they have no contact number.. The sub sounded amazing these past few weeks up till now

Think I will just build my own sub buy the box off parts express and my own amp.

So did you even take the time to make sure you have the Jumper plates in place AND binding posts screwed down tight on your Monitor 65t's?

Look at one of their kits.

I am going back to my preference of 2 subwoofers under $500 - that I would recommend.

However, to each their own.

Yes, everything is secure.
Some songs I even hear popping from the tweeter it is weird.
I called Polk and talked to them. they said it was a bad tweeter and they would send me a new tweeter immediately no questions asked.

I've yet to even get a hold of NXG and its been two days.

You are still with-in a 30 day time window - disconnect it, and put the request in for a return

It will probably cost $35 just to send this big paper weight back to them.
But guess it's better than losing $260

That's good. A new tweeter is usually very easy to change out. Might find your speakers give you what you were looking for

That is a good seller response.

A future sub option if you can swing it > HSU STF-2

Or go DIY - if you are sincere about it

Or go DIY - if you are sincere about it
No down firing sub for me.

I'm thinking svs or my own custom build.

What is wrong with downfiring? No SQ advantage really between downfiring and front firing.

And SVS PB-1000 would be a good step up from the NXG.

And yes, I've had my eye on that SVS PB-1000 for awhile now.
I'm just trying to debate weather it be more of advantage due to the price if I went with DIY.
