HK AVR-1565 Speaker Recommendations

Hi, I would like to get thoughts and recommendations for speakers/match for my HK AVR 1565. Just 2 speakers at the moment, budget to mid range in price. Also, what do you think about removing old speakers from a bookshelf speaker and replacing them with new ones?
Thanks.

Removing the old speakers and replacing them will not usually work very well, because it is hard to match the exact characteristics of the originals unless you can get an EXACT replacement from the original manufacturer. For one thing, they may not match up electrically with the crossover components and you will get a strange frequency response.

The Dayton B652 speakers are only $35 per pair from Parts Express, and are hard to beat for less than $150. I have a pair in my den with my 60" Sony HDTV and a Cambridge 40-watt amplifier, and the sound is quite good.

If you want to spend $250, I recommend the Cambridge Audio SX-50 speakers.

Sorry. But we don't know what that means since "mid range in price" means different things to different people

I agree with the other poster. Drivers from one speaker will generally not work properly in a different speaker. The drivers are matched to the crossover, tweeter, and the size of the enclosure (box).

Cambridge Audio S30, Wave Crest HLV-1, or EMP Tek E5Bi are all excellent values for <$300.

I think I'll choose the Cambridge S30, with the Wave Crest HLV-1 a very close second.
