Speakers for Sony STR-DN840

I am looking to purchase the Sony STR-DN840. I'd like to buy a 5.1 set of speakers for it and would appreciate some recommendations on some quality but affordable speakers. I was looking at the Monoprice Premium 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System with Subwoofer but it looks like the output of the receiver is 150 watts and the speakers are 100 watts so I fear it could damage the speakers. What do you guys think?

Only if you crank it up too much to where the speakers start distorting.

Then again, if you over crank an amp that is rated less than the speaker output to where the amp is clipping, you can blow the speakers.

Best bet is to learn how to not turn up your speakers to where their is audible distortion.

You'd also be better off buying larger speakers. Those Monoprice speakers have a 3" driver. You'd get better sound with speakers with larger drivers. Even the Pioneer BS22 with 4" driver and 1" tweeter sound better than the much smaller Monoprice satellites.

What is your budget for speakers?
