Can I connect my M-Audio AV40 speakers to this subwoofer?

I've read online is possible to hook a subwoofer to these speakers. I have this DCM SW10 subwoofer I picked up for $5 at a yard sale the other day and wanted to see it would work with the M-Audio speakers.

I would think the line out jacks on the sub would be mono, from whatever sub out signal you fed the sub with.

It might depend on what signal you feed the subs with, if it is stereo full range, or mono.

It can you would wire it between the source and the av40. You would have to use something else to control the volume other than the av40. So wiring would be something like source - volume control - sub - av40.
