5.1 set vs 7.1set

The room is L shaped screen area is 13x24 8ft ceilings. My receiver is the Onkyo 818
not sure if the 5.1 set would be that much better than the 7.1 set. Budget for speakers is ~2200

I'm looking at for the 5.1 set
chane theater ten LCR
jbl 8320 surrounds
HSU VT3 sub

the 7.1 set
Hsu set
HSU vt15

In that big a room, I would go with the 7.1 setup, assuming you can optimize the placement of your rear and surround speakers.

+1

This is a good guide for placing them correctly: http://www.dolby.com/us/en/guide/sur...7-1-setup.html

Instead of getting the VTF-15H, I would recommend a pair of Outlaw LFM-1 EX. They are on sale and an excellent choice, plus the pair would help in your L shaped room where bass will be tricky.

if i got with the HSU set with the HC1 for LCR leaves me with only 600 for sub any ideas on a $300 duo sub that would really outperform a single high end? Im currently using the Dayton 1200 duo setup in a different house but as good as it sounds I want more than that. I was a much tighter budget here and looking to really upgrade. The new setup is used for 99% movies/tv

I would just go with one for now, the Outlaw LFM-1 EX is probably the best sub $600 will get you for movies (it's on sale, don't wait too long).

I agree with all of the above. The EX is a much better performer than dual Dayton 1200s. I think you would be happy. It is the same sub class as the HSU VTF-3.

And I'm pretty sure the sale ends this week. If you are not ready to buy today, I would call Outlaw ASAP and ask them how much longer it lasts.

They told me the sale was going to end July 31st at midnight, but it's still going so definitely call and check! I would imagine they sold quite a few at that price so they may be extending it.

They send an email saying they extended it, but I deleted it. I just don't remember, but pretty sure it was this week.
