Check out the Fusion-12 Tempest at www.diysoundgroup.com (http://www.diysoundgroup.com/wavegui...ion12-kit.html)

Hard to beat the value of these kits, you can get cabinet flat packs and assembled crossovers, so you just need to put it all together and finish it however you want. You could also wait for the Fusion-15 Sentinel, it should be out soon. In my opinion this is the kind of speaker you need to look at for the dynamic theater sound.

If you're going with the DIY kits from the soundgroup definitely consider the 1099's. I hosted a GTG in July and they are an excellent speaker for the money, IMHO a step up over the Tempest.

The Fusion 8 Alchemy is 17.5" tall and has a matching center.

Can someone tell if KEF Xq50 or KEF X600c is better for center speaker? Will be powering this with onkyo tx-st705 receiver.

What are your R/L front speakers? You want the center to timbre match them as closely as possible.

I've never heard of a KEF X600c?
