Home Theater set up help please!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for your time looking through the post. I am a newbie to HT stuff. I had a Samsung HT-d6730w system but the stupid amplifier for the rear wireless speakers decided to stop working. So now i am looking to upgrade my HT surround sound system. I have been reading some of the similar posts about what other people suggest and I was thinking about this for my list:

Denon AVR x1000
BIC F12
Infinity primus PC351
Infinity primus p163 for my 2 front speakers.

My budget is about 850$ (poor resident salary). I was hoping to use my current front 2 speakers from the Samsung HT system that i have as the surround rear speakers (not sure if this is a good idea). Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated. Mostly i would be listening to music, TV and movies with occasional gaming.

Thanks again!

This would be a nice system. However the Pioneer speakers are on sale right now and it's hard to beat the value the offer:

With the money saved, look into upgrading your sub. I would recommend saving up and going with something like the SVS PB-1000. Would be a big improvement over the F-12 and increase your overall sound quality substantially.

Denon AVR-1713 | EMP E55Ti | EMP E56Ci | EMP E5Bi | BIC F-12

Great selection for the AVR - the Denon AVRs have good features and high quality amplifiers - it will drive most any standard speakers.

Both good options - which you choose will depend on your listening preferences and what kind of speaker "sound" you like. The Infinity speakers are slightly bright (an emphasis on the high frequencies) but have a lot of dynamics (will produce loud volume levels with modest power) and a powerful center speaker that can certainly keep up with movie soundtracks. I think they have a sound similar to the entry level Polk speakers.

The Pioneers have a more even, accurate sound which requires a lot more power to get good dynamic range and have been praised by many - certainly a great deal.

I hope that you can go listen to them before you decide which to buy!

As recently as two weeks ago when Amazon had these in stock, they were selling them direct from Amazon for $110 each - I suspect when they are back in stock the price will go back down so be patient - this is a lot of speaker - the 3.0 set for $420:

Infinity Primus P363 Three-way dual 6-1/2-Inch Floorstanding Speaker (Black, Each) - $110 free ship directly from Amazon
Infinity Primus PC351 Three-way dual 5-1/4-Inch Speaker (Each, Center-Channel, Black) - $200 free ship directly from Amazon

You can use your existing front speakers for the surround - just make sure they are 6 Ohm or 8 Ohm speakers (and not some weird HTiB impedance). Your sub choice is good for an entry level internet direct sub - the other option would be the Dayton 1200 from PartsExpress.com

With the Denon AVR-X1000 costing about $350 on Amazon, that will put you at about $770 - only $70 short of your $840 budget not including sub - so even waiting for the great deal on the front speakers you are short. If you don't mind factory refurbished and only a 1 year warranty, you can get the Denon AVR-X1000 for $199:

DENON AVR-X1000 5.1 Channel Networking Receiver w/ AirPlay - $199

2-Ch (HT L/R): Oppo BDP-105 BD, Adcom GFP-750 pre, Bryston 10B Sub Xover, Bryston 4BSST2 / Paradigm Signature S4 v.2 (L/R), (2) SVS SB12-NSD (Subs)
Home Theater: Bryston 4BSST2 amp / Paradigm CC-590 (C), Outlaw 7700 amp / (4) Def Tech UIW-RSSII (LS/RS/LB/RB), Samsung 46” 3D LCD

$329 for your front soundstage

That puts you ~$100 under budget with some good sound

+1 Very good bang-for-the-buck setup.

(If you were to consider expanding your budget the sub is probably where the funds should go.)
