DefTech Procinema 800 value

It seems like a fair value to me, but I need to ask the experts.

My room is about 2200 sq. ft.

Onkyo TX-NR609.

My current speakers are the B-Word acoustimass 7, 20 years old at least. Please be gentle with me.

I have a Klipsch RSW-10D sub.

So, on Craig's List the guy is marketing the 6 piece set - 4 of the surrounds, one center, and the 8 inch sub - as "like new", though oddly enough he can't produce a purchase receipt.

I'm thinking at $250, for my room, and my disconcerting ears (wait, discerning ears?), that is a fair value.

Comments? Like I say, please be gentle about my current speakers.

Thanks for input.

I assume you mean 220 sq. ft., 2200 is bigger than a lot of homes!

The DefTech are decent, but still abide by the limitations of satellite speakers. I think the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers would be a better deal, and are currently on an awesome sale.

You can get the FS52 towers, C22 center, and BS22 bookshelves for $250 shipped! Use your current sub and you will have a nice system. Compared to the DefTechs, these speakers have better dynamics and output, and will be more appropriate for a something other than a small room. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ndrew+jo%2Caps

Don't buy the Pioneer sub, yours is better.

Gosh did I blow the room size. Thanks.

16x17, 8ft ceilings, I tried to say 2200 cu ft.

Thanks on that feedback. I am thinking about satellites as compromise against the size of those floorstanders, and I can put them on the wall.

So thanks for making me think about that.

I would try and negotiate the price without the sub, I think your Klipsch is a better option. See if he will take $200 for just the speakers.

I really appreciate your feedback.

Do you think I will notice the big differences between the Panasonic and these Procinema?

I agree my sub will be better, I also figure one way or another the 8 inch in this deal will get used - handing it down to the kids, out in the garage, whatever, so I'm not real concerned about that.

List price is over $1k, this would seem like a fair price for used, unless for that same $250 I would hear that real big difference. Remember, I've lived with those b-word speakers for a long time...

Thanks again, it's nice of you to discuss these things with me.

I think the Pro-Cinema is an upgrade over Bose, but the Pioneer (I assume you mean Pioneer instead of Panasonic) would be an upgrade over that. If you are looking for a compact speaker you can wall-mount, then I think the DefTech is a good choice.

If the Pro Cinema speakers are really "like new" then the $250 asking price is a really good deal.

The larger Pioneer speakers are probably better though. But if you must get satellites you've done pretty well.

Thanks Afrogt.

I asked my wife about floor standing speakers, she says no problem, so I'm glad I asked for the advice here and can go with the Pioneers.
