Bookshelf speakers (pair) for around $1000?

Hey all. I'm thinking of upgrading the mains in my basement HT system from the Paradigm Atoms I'm running now. I'm heavily biased towards Paradigm (there is a dealer in Madison that I've been going to for years), but I thought I'd at least throw it out here and see what else I should maybe consider. Main use will be music, and some movies and TV. I have an Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver along with a Paradigm center and some JBL in-walls for surround. Currently using a Velodyne sub that I hope to upgrade eventually. Any ideas I should look at? I want to stick with bookshelf speakers in this room.

If you like Paradigm, I would save up for the Studio Series, the Studio 20 retails for $1500/pair, but I bet you can get a discount from a dealer. Just note you will want to upgrade your center sooner than later, as the front three should match.

If this is a dedicated space though, I would go with some high efficiency theater speakers like the Chane Theater Ten, you can get all three for $1000 and you will have superior dynamics and SPL.

Living Room
Samsung PN60F5300 | Denon DBP-1611 | Roku 3
Denon AVR-1713 | EMP E55Ti | EMP E56Ci | EMP E5Bi | BIC F-12

Computer
Topping TP23 | NHT SuperZero 2.0 | Velodyne DEQ-8R

Thanks. I wouldn't call it a dedicated theater space...it's more of a second living area, with an office area off to the side. Basically open concept.

Also, I'm not opposed to upgrading the center...but no offense to anyone, but those Chane speakers are fairly fugly looking.

Yes I agree they are not attractive, which is why I asked if it was a dedicated space. Knowing it's not, you could look into those Studios, but there are some good options at $1000/pair:

Philhamonitor
Ascend Sierra-1 w/ NRT Upgrade
SVS Ultra Bookshelves
Aperion Verus Grande
KEF R100
Monitor Audio Silver 2
PSB Imagine B

Here are some nice open box deals you should really consider:
