SVS Speaker Owners Thread

I couldn't find a thread just for the SVS speakers, only their subwoofers, so I'm starting this thread.

I'm interested in buying these speakers and I wanted to hear back from people who own them with their thoughts and comparisons.

I'm considering a pair of SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers for my PC room. I know they have a 45 day return policy but I'm wondering what to compare them to at that price point. I'm a happy owner of a PB 13-Ultra so I'm familiar with their build and outstanding service. They had a great review from Audioholics as well. I also own a pair of Revel F208's and plan on auditioning the M106's but at twice the price I'm not sure if it would be worth it. My den is 11' 8"x 10' 6". The speakers would be at my back.

Who out there owns a pair of Ultra Bookshelfs and what else did you consider before buying?

Thanks

My system:
Marantz AV 8801
Emotiva XPR-5
Oppo BDP 105

I don't own the bookshelves but I do have the towers. I will say that I love these speakers. I had klipsch syngery fs2 before I made the switch. I said try em for 45 days the only thing you would waste would be time if you didn't enjoy them.

Sound and Vision magazine did a great review on the SVS Speakers and Sub a couple of months ago. I liked the price but I'm more leaning towards the bookshelf speakers as mains and possibly the center and surrounds. To have all 5 speakers the same and get one of the SVS subs.

Nice gear
I also have the 8801, but with an Outlaw 7700 and Oppo 103.
Speaker wise, I went with apererion Verus Grand but I got dual SVS Ultra13 subs.Their Ultra speakers were right next to my list.

I don't think, you can go wrong with SVS as a speaker.

I have their older S series SCS-01 speakers. They still sound as good as the day I received them back in 2007. I have heard the Ultra towers and really liked them a lot and am starting to consider upgrading to them.

I'm in the very same boat as you are, though

Pretty quiet thread here, kids!
New topic, if anyone is here anymore:
I have a pair of Ultra Towers and have been dialing them in, so to speak. They are very revealing, and seem to make a good recording sound better, and a bad recording sound worse. My (non-dedicated) room is not great and is asymmetrical, and there is essentially no freedom to experiment with speaker positioning, only angle(s). Audyssey XT32 does wonders. However, I still seem to notice some emphasis in what used to be called the "presence" part of the spectrum...fundamentals in the region of horns, violas, cello, etc. seem just a little strong. On the other hand, many recordings sound to me like I am in the Symphony hall, listening to a live performance.

Does anyone out there have the Ultra Towers and have any comments / suggestions? Thanks.
Jack
