Center channel problem...? Unless you mean the fact that they don't all three match...yeah, that could be nice for sure.

I tried out the surrounds, then a surround as a CC. Didn't really like the direct radiating surrounds...I've become very accustomed to my dipole surrounds over the last 20 years. If I end up keeping the 210s I'm probably going to give the surrounds another go.

Alan, what surrounds do you have now? If you end up swapping to PSA let us know! I also love my dipole surrounds and keep resisting swapping them so it would be interesting to hear from someone that makes the switch.

If my lurking memory is correct, Alan has some older Polk dipole/bipole speakers. I believe he tried the 110sr but didn't like them as much as his older Polks.

I've got four 20 year old Polk L/S fx. Were $500/pair new in 1995...they still sound great to me.

to each his own...I had Dipole Klipsch surrounds...and switched to direct radiators (PSB at the time) and i thought they blew away the dispersed sound...then that was brought to ludacris speed...once upgrading to the 110sr's

My surrounds have a switch that lets me run them dipole or direct and and I don't like the direct mode at all. I like surrounds to disappear and just make sound that's everywhere.

HOWEVER!

The PSA's have such a wide sound stage that I think they would sound pretty awesome. So I am conflicted.

Plus broke!

It's been the year of vacations for me. California, Vegas, Colorado Springs, wife is about to take a trip to Austin. My 17 year old has 2 cars and we can't keep either of them running. Birthday season just started for me and then come the holidays. I'm a poor boy right now! But come January I get some cash coming so maybe then.

I swear tho sometimes I think my PSA's laugh whenever the surrounds kick in. It's like they are thinking "Look how cute, those little speakers are trying to keep up with us!:

Well I may be able to give some useful feedback to some of you soon because I'm switching from my Polk Fxi-a4's (bipole dipole design) to the PSA 110sr's. At the very least I can give you my thoughts but as with all things audio YMMV. They will be here tomorrow. I just got off the phone with the carrier.

Put 2 of the foam packing pieces together, small piece of plywood on that for stability ( I had 2 old/small cabinet doors laying around) , cover with a towel or small blanket (preferably black).

Crude and temporary but does the trick, although a little bit low

Looks like it's going to be a fun weekend!

Does anyone know if I'm going to need to be home to sign for this?? I would assume so, but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that it does require a signature. Looks like I'm taking Friday off!

@Alan P , Alan are you going all vertical MT-210's? Also you mentioned when a sound transitioned from your khorns to your center it was really noticeable. That's what I meant about your center channel issues.

Lightbulb moment - do a frequency sweep to the mains and see if you can hear it and repeat it. You could be hearing some resonant frequency of the picture on the wall or your hanging blinds or a nearby HVAC vent.

Travis
Yes, I can reproduce it in command and I will try to film it on my upcoming days off as well as take a new picture of my front stage with the PSA's. That picture is no longer in the wall and the subs ate in totally different positions now. I turned off the subwoofers during music playback, just to rule them out as the culprit. They weren't it. I'm thinking it's something to do with the resonance of something else in the room, like you suggest? I just don't know what yet? Could be a bad amp channel, maybe? But I actually demoed my amp before buying it used and heard nothing like what I'm hearing in my room? So. I dunno?

Power Sound Audio
Yes, pre/pro (818) has always been the same, as has the XPA-2. IT makes the noise at any volume level, but the more you turn it up, the worse it becomes. I only hear it on 2.1 music, not multichannel soundtracks. I.wanna say when I turn audyssy off, the problem disappears. I would have to double check, but I'm currently working. This makes me wonder if during audio calibration, I'm getting some weird reflection into the mic from something in the room that is causing this anomaly? Is that possible?

Nope, still gotta have my CC horizontal (73" DLP TV).

Oh yeah, the timbre issues....that will be a non-issue now.*

@morbidcorpse , just out of curiosity try connecting your right speaker to the left channel output and see what happens. Probably nothing but worth a cheap shot....

@drunkman really nice shot my man, Jim might be able to post the same pic with his own house soon................ Hope not my friend...

man...nothing better than (and more exhausting) about delivery day!

been a while now (shockingly) since I have had one to be excited for...makes me a little sad

but then that sadness goes away nightly when I fire it all up....then smiles galore

the new nightly feature my son cant wait to "go downstairs in the basement and watch the movie" is ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH...a not terrible animated movie...but the sound is outstanding! <---TG for that!
