Recommendations for a Space Constrained Front Sound Stage
I am looking for advice and ideas to improve sound quality from a space constrained front sound stage.
My theater is such that I only have about 2' of room above and below my non-acoustically transparent screen for front speakers (no room on sides whatsoever). I also don't have a lot of depth for speakers in the front sound stage as my theater door is about 8" from the front of the room along the side wall.
I currently have monoprice 3-way inwalls for L/C/R mounted below my screen. They are connected to a Onkyo 3008 running multeq xt32 and I have 2 SVS pc12s supporting the low end.
I am looking to improve the front sound stage, particularly I am finding dialogue to be muffled and lacking clarity. I have messed around with a few options in the onkyo including the dynamic eq and adjusting the treble of the fronts to try to lessen the muffled sound, but to no avail.
One option I am considering is to find a good center channel speaker, buy 3, and use them for my L/C/R. I'll set these into the wall if necessary depending on the depth requirements.
Any suggestions on high value center channels? Any other ideas?
