Hi there,
Getting a new audio system as the old Arcam system I inherited from my Dad has seen better days (and its huge and I have a small bedroom - university flat).
The speakers I hear most recommended in my price range is the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR. But I have read a few negative reviews that say the Polk Tsi100's offer better value for money/a better sound. Both are very well reviewed, so I gather its more of a personal preference thing. That said, i don't live in a town that has much in way of audio shops, and the stores we do have don't have these models, so i'm buying blind.
I feel as though the Pioneer's are a safer choice as they have a lot more reviews and seem to be the most universally recommended. But the lesser number of reviews of the Polk's are just as positive.
So I was wondering, for those who've experienced these speakers, what sort of characteristics did you experience with them?
These will be predominantly used for music. I do watch the odd movie, but I don't have a real home theatre system - my primary focus is music. I listen to a broad range of music from classical to metal to hip hop.
Finally, I'm unsure if I'll need a sub with these speakers, since they are just meant for my bedroom. I'm planning to hold off until I hear them in my room before I make a call on that - but is it good to get the same brand of sub as you do speakers? Or is that less important in a 2.1 set up?
Thanks!
