Hi all,
first time poster who needs some help. I'll try to summarize.
Just finished building a small but somewhat dedicated HT - ~14 x 16.
Gear:
Denon X4200
Emotiva XPA-3
HTPC for streaming / XboxOne / PS4
Initially - Aperion 5T / 6C / 4B setup initially.
Currently - Elac UF5 / UC5 / 4 x Logitech Z5500 speakers for Surround / 2 x Pioneer satelites for atmos
2 x SVS PC12-Plus Subs
DIY 103" Screen w/ BenQ HT2150ST Projector (Sitting 10.5 ft from screen)
DIY Acoustic Panels at all first reflection points inc. ceiling
Now, I think I have fairly ok gear, but I just can't get that crisp 'theater sound' that I have been wanting for some time, and thought I would get with the completion of the theatre room. I have been to Audio/Video 2001 (Canada) and sat in their HT room and heard the Mad Max demo which had an immersive, jaw-droppingly fantastic sound. They were running Paradigm Monitor 9 on a Marantz and so I assumed it was the speakers that I had selected incorrectly, but then I went to BestBuy and listened to their Atmos demo running a WW2 movie on DefTecs and it also had that same crisp clean sound. This was running on an Onkyo AVR, no separate AMP.
I have two totally different, very well reviewed systems but I can't get anywhere near that kind of sound quality. The sound is missing that clean crisp sound. Its dull and with the Elac's, almost veiled and held back.
I am not sure if I am running Audessey wrong, or if there is some 'magic' setting that I am missing. After all the effort, it's a bit annoying that I still can't get that sound.
Any assistance would be more than appreciated, and I can answer any questions that may help get to the root of the issue.
Thanks.
