Speakers to go with Yamaha RX-A660BL

hi,

thanks to @mdbrown - I have ordered the Yamaha RX-A660BL 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver.

(Recommendation for receiver + speakers)

can someone please recommend speakers to go with this.

the setup is a TV on a wall, wires inside the wall - and the receiver inside a small cabinet below the TV.

so may be couple of options would be awesome. Price around a couple of hundred dollars.

thanks

Link didn't work.

Any AVR will handle 6ohm speakers.

What is your budget for speakers+sub and how many of each do you want?

The AV-R I am waiting on is

Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A660

My Budget would be around 200-300$.

My room size is about 30 feet by 20 feet - and opens into kitchen which is 10x20

The AV is 7.2. I am not wired to put spearkers around my house. Only against the wall on which the TV is hanging.

thanks

Hoo boy, that is a huge space and I'm afraid I can't think of a 3.1 setup for a total of $300 that would work well in that space to be honest.

For $376 you could start with two of these which would be a great place to START.

For that kind of money there is just no way I can think of for a 3.1 system that wouldn't be almost "throw away" in terms of money spent in a huge space.

Even used wouldn't cut it IMHO unless you got very very lucky.

Even the "love it/hate it" Klipsch R15Ms are $250/pair at Best Buy but at least you could try them at home and return easily if not happy.

Play down to 55hz so another good choice.

How hard today is it to get the matching center?

Or these.
Honestly, they are what they are. Okay for movies and stuff but probably not ideal for music.

On that hard budget this is really the only way to go for 5.1 as the speakers have 6.5" drivers and the sub should achieve the low to mid 30hz zone.

You seem to have your mind made up to go with small speakers -- so look at the Monoprice --

However, I would start with something like this

Subwoofer
https://www.parts-express.com/dayton...oofer--300-629

JungleRoc bookshelf -- get 2 pair and use one as a center speaker

2.5" main drivers are not going to satisfy at all is my conclusion.

You really want minimum 5" drivers and the Dayton AIRs have 6.5" drivers for impact in the mid bass region which is where all the action is in movies.

size does not matter to me.. a little bit of price and something that is manageable in the house.
if you have 5.1 package... other than the dayton, which I have short listed.. but wanted to see if there were others.

While my preference would still be to start with 3.1 with the Dayton Sub and JungleRoc speakers -- the JungleRoc will go lower and have more punch. The Dayton would still be a decent system on a tight budget for a beginner system.

May you enjoy your adventure.
