Arrow Setup for JAZZ/BLUES (turntable)

Hi all – I am new to the forum, and would appreciate your help!

I’m looking for a simple set up for listening to jazz/blues through my turntable (RCA) in a mid-sized living room (16x8 feet; 5x2.5 meters). I do not plan to use for other types of music or with other sources. I’ve been looking at the audioengines A5+ which I like for their simplicity and positive reviews, but it seems some people believe they are too boomy or insufficient for use in a living room. I would rather have quality and soundstage rather than volume, if possible.

My budget is $500.

Thanks so much for your time!

Thanks for your reply zieglj01!

I guess that, unlike the Audioengines, these will require use of a DAC or an amp? Sorry if this is a silly question, I am totally new to this world!

Thanks,
J

Over your budget, but has phono pre-amp built in, no need for a DAC or any amp. Might be worth it. They get great user reviews.

Thanks! Correct, my turntable has phono pre-amp. What about the ADAM AUDIO F5? they seem to be in the same price range. Would you recommend the Emotiva over the Adam? Also, would it be worth getting an external amp to bypass the phono pre-amp of my turntable? (Sony PSLX300)

Thanks again.

The self powered Airmotive will not need an amp -- however, you will need a DAC

Now you can go passive and buy an Amp with a built in DAC
Airmotiv B1

Amp/receiver - with built in DAC
Yamaha

A turntable does not need a DAC, (Digital to Analog Converter), as it outputs an analog signal.

But if you want some very nice powered speakers with a DAC for a digital source that has no internal DAC, (can't think of one other than a BluRay player to be honest), here's another option.

https://www.qacoustics.com/bookshelf...-speakers.html

Even has a subwoofer output so you could add a nice $199 sub like the Emotiva BasX S8.

Speakers

Bass unit: 100mm
Treble unit: 25mm
Connection options
Bluetooth V4.0 including aptX
Analogue 3.5 mm stereo jack socket
Analogue RCA phono sockets
Digital optical (Toslink)
Subwoofer output (RCA)
Speaker terminals

I can't speak to the active (powered) emotive airmotiv speakers, but the B1 (passive) speakers combined with the emotiva BasX S8 sub are an outstanding combination for jazz/blues. The combination resulted in great imaging, separation and detail for me.
