Chane bookshelf 3.1 setup for "budget" livingroom setup?

My problem: I have a JBL soundbar in my living room and I hate it. I'd like a bookshelf 3.1 system to replace it with. (wife says no to tower speakers)

Budget: I'd like to keep it less than $1000 total

Components I already have: I have a brand new, unused ML Dynamo 700 Subwoofer. (got it free when I bought my Motion 60XT's) I'll use my XBox One S as my 4k Blu Ray player, and I already have a Vizio P65 TV

What I need: Speakers and receiver (probably need stands for the L/R speakers)

I've read that Chane speakers are REALLY good for their price. Would a pair of their A1.4's paired with their A2.4 center sound good with my subwoofer? If not, what would you recommend? Are there are good "go-to" receivers for budget builds like this?

Thanks!

The Chanes certainly would sound much, much better than your soundbar. But yeah, they are a good choice. You can also consider something like JBL 230s + 235 (currently on sale, $550). I think JBL does the free returns thing too if you don't like them.

As for receivers, check our accessories4less, pick whatever models meet your requirements.

Why do you hate the soundbar? What are your goals for the new system?

Chane's would do you right as would others no doubt

What are your goals? Budget?
You can do it right...or you can REALLY do it right

ex. Chane's A1.4 LR & Chane's A2.4 C is doing it right

Chane's A2.4 LR & Chane's A2.4 C is REALLY doing it right

Receiver: Integra DTR 50.3 , 7.2 ch, 135 Watt
AMP: Outlaw 5000
Subs: (2) HSU VTF2 MK5
Speakers LRC: Chane's A2.4
Rears: Chane's A1.4 Surrounds: Phil AAs
Outdoor Speakers: Definitive Technology AW 6500

That is a fantastic deal! Cheaper new than the refurb version on A4L. Don't know if it would be better than your Integra, but you'll have all the latest bells a whistles and a full warranty. Reliability won't be an issue for a little while at least.

I haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet. The guys in the Kef owners thread are saying the improvements over the old Q100 is quite noticeable with better mids and crisper highs. Even if they are better, I have no intention of upgrading since I got my entire setup at close-out price and I have no complaints about sound quality. I could use a better sub, but not many options at reasonable prices in Canada.

Yep, especially for HT you'd have to ask yourself if that difference is reduced once the EQ does its thing.

Chasing "newer and better" when you are already satisfied seems like a waste of time IMHO.

If starting from scratch, the new Q series would be worth auditioning. That being said the old Q series are very good speakers and still available at half the price here in Canada.
I'd only consider the upgrade if moving up to the next level like the LS50's, R series or equivalent Paradigm and so on.
