Hey

A while back I was looking at a pair of Klipsch Palladium b17 and a pair of Kef LS50. Both sales didnt go through, but I'm still in want for a fabulous pair of bookshelves. Any suggestions for second hand speakers that will go for roughly 1000-1500? Kef LS50 goes for 800, Klipsch p17 for 1750, B&W CM6 for 1200, B&W SS25 for 1500. Any others I should look for?

EDIT:

"I love my bass, but I will be using a subwoofer too. So good bass output from the bookshelves is a plus, but not the priority.

I have not yet bought the amplifier, but will buy one that fits the bookshelves."

Thanks

HT: Marantz SR7011 + Klipsch Chorus 2 (front) + Klipsch LaScala II (center) + Klipsch Forte II (rears) + Klipsch Heresy (surround) + QS618 (18" horn loaded subwoofer)
Previously owned: Klipsch RP450C, Q Acoustics 3020, Klipsch R12SW

Def Tech has just released their new Demand series bookshelf speakers, and because of that their StudioMonitor bookshelf speakers are on deep discount.

https://www.definitivetechnology.com...monitor-series

I use a pair of SM65s as my main left and right for my home theater. They put off some amazing sound.

You could also look at the SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers.

I'm from Belgium, so that is not really an option. Could try the tactic with a local vendor though.

Incl not against buying new speakers (I'm considering the SVS pair), but I really prefer 2e hand. Do you have an opinion some of the speakers I listed?

Given you seem to be a fan Klipsch, based on the equipment list in your signature, I would look toward the P17s. Are you looking for similar sound characteristics of your HT system or something different? I assume this is for a different room/system; what will you be driving them with?

As I already have a full Klipsch HT, I want to try a different (non horn) brand. It would be for music only. The room would be small. I will use a sub with the bookshelves.

Greetings

Grab a pair of Legacy Audio Studio HD's and don't look back. I have been extremely happy with mine, so much so that I went back and got another pair.

Wow! Thanks for the suggestions! I'm in contact with the seller of a B&W Nautilus 805 (1000 euro) and a pair of Paradigm Signature S2 V1 (also 1000). Anyone know how good they are? If so, good prices?

Thanks!

Keep in mind the S2 V1 does not have the beryllium tweeter, which is what makes the V2/V3 Signature versions special IMO.

In what price range are they (new)? Could you compare them to the B&W 805? And is there an option to change the tweeter maybe?

I think the B&W 805s new were $2000 here.

Are these the older model from before 2005 or the newer model made after?

It's cheaper to drive to get them or just have them shipped to you.....

27 replies and no one has mentioned the Ascend Sierra-2?

That would be at the top of my list especially if you are using a sub.

The V3 sold for ~$3,400 new. I don't remember what the V1 sold for. I believe mid-$2,000's, but you'd have to calculate inflation for a true comparison.

No, you can't change the tweeter.

I haven't heard that model of B&W. They seem to have good measurements in a Stereophile review (I don't pay any attention to the subjective parts of reviews).
