Jack, man you are great with the answers. I appreciate everything and you taking the time to deal with a potential end-user.

Thanks.

I guess i will be off to Audiogon to sell a Martin Logan Descent subwoofer and then to find a dealer on the NHT Xd in South Florida (West Palm and south) area willing to deal.

hmm.....

Ok... Let me wait until a couple of these Xd packages hit the market and let's see what the end users have to say about them against the likes of some other well known speakers out there.... Martin Logan, Paradigm, Salk, M&K and even against the Anthony Gallo Reference 3 etc.

Thanks again.

Curtis.

I hope to be in a position to post my thoughts on the Xd system as mine is awaiting delivery from a dealer who has placed an order early. It's going to be a standing battle against my existing system.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it.

Basically it boils down to B&W 803 Nautilus and a twice modded 300 watt McCormack DNA-2 Deluxe Rev. A platinum series. This is one of the finest solid state amps available and pounds refined power into the laid back 803s.

Let the games begin! :D

It's all just a game. I just play to win.

Randybes, I saw the Jim Salk DeqX Veracity speaker on his website....although I believe it is only the large HT3 that will use the DeqX. It should be interesting. We will see.

Well, I couldn't resist, the Martin Logan Descent has been put up for sale and we will see where the chips fall. Man, I hope I am not making a mistake.

Thanks.

Curtis

For now, I think you are right on the large HT3.

It is my understanding that these Xd systems are starting to ship. Is that correct? There seems to be very little representation of this FLAGSHIP product on the NHT website. I saw the press release info but that was about it.

Are all NHT dealers carrying this Xd system or just certain ones?

Since the NHT website is not up-to-date with the Xd, how up to date is the dealer network as represented on the website?

Thanks.

Curtis

Hey Curtis, my understanding is that shipping was scheduled to begin now so I would imagine dealers will start seeing them in the next week or so. I've been equally surprised that there is not much information other than some press releases and a white paper on NHT's website on Xd. I've been checking daily as an indicator that distribution has begun but so far no luck

I contacted all the dealers in my area of NYC and not all of them indicated they would be carrying Xd, and some were not clear when they would get it as the wait list has been going for some time. I think that the dealers who placed early orders have a shot at getting something in the next few weeks, others may not see anything until those early orders are satisfied. That's my guess.

It's all just a game. I just play to win.

Thanks for the shipping info. Hopefully they will start to show up in showrooms shortly and I will be able to possible find a deal on a Xd config.

Interestingly, I saw on a European website a few days back that they say two different colors - the current one and piano black with dark gray. I can't remember the language, only that I could basically read it, which is to say French, Italian or Spanish, can't remember which. I think Italian or Spanish, actually. Can't remember how I found it, but it was a dealer website. I probably shouldn't repeat it because it's probably bad info. Did they assume this? Or hear a rumor? Did the announce something that they weren't supposed to? Or maybe just totally wrong? Not sure.

Edit - here it is - http://www.avaitaly.com/cat056.php?n=1

It's the Italian distributor for NHT - I guess they haven't gotten the news ;)

Joel, at this point we'll take it with a grain of salt in the hope that these are starting to go out to the dealers. I haven't heard any news to that affect other than dealers are anticipating some arrivals shortly.

The "official" color scheme suits me just fine. I'm strongly anticipating this.

It's all just a game. I just play to win.

Come on Kal... don't wait till the weekend. Many of us are depending on you. :) Hopefully you can take some pictures of the "black" setup as it says on your box.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing and hearing more about this package.

I am about to complete the sale of my Martin Logan subwoofer and I will then have enough money for 1 Xd complete system (which includes stands and cables.)

I am very interested in hearing if the Xd system can work in a HT capacity with a "ghost" center channel as opposed to shelling out for another Xds and Xda for center duty.

Thanks

Curtis

The phantom center issue you bring up works great for me. I have an excellent center channel, but I go phantom mode when watching alone because it sounds better. If these things are for real, you should have no problem. The $64k question is, of course, are these things for real.

Yeah, well that and the fact that more reviewers have them than dealers!

FWIW, I was told that the reason my shipment was delayed was that NHT needed to get it to their key dealers first.

The reason I have not opened them is that they are going to the weekend house tonight and I will use them there. If I get to it, I can post a picture or two.
Comments, however, will have to be reserved for the review.:p

Man, I sure as hell hope these things are for real. I just about sold my entire setup just to get the front stage. Haven't ordered it yet however.

Waiting to see how things come out with the reviews and to see some more pictures... in both colors if there are indeed 2 colors etc.

I hope it delivers like the hype that has surrounded these in all the early writeups I have seen.

How about this, don't say anything about the NHT's just offer your opinion on whether digital speakers are now worse, on par with or much better than the best analog speakers :D.
