I have a new house that has the rear surround speaker in the ceiling. I never did get a good location from the builder as th where they were at. I went into the attic to look but there is so much insulation, I am not sure I could ever find them. So what's the secret to finding them? Thanks and I hope this is the right forum for this topic.

you can buy a tone generator from home depot for $40 (i think)
that will send a tone through the speaker wire and you will hold up another unit that will sound when close to the wire.

What you're looking for is called a "fox and hound" setup. It's also great if you have a rat's nest of cables and forgot to label which one is which.
