I am interested in the Tannoy Reveal Nearfield monitors for HT. The Reveal line has a dedicated center channel as well.

Is this type of speaker designed differently than a std. HT speaker? I know you can listen close to them 3-4 ft. for studio use but, how about 10-11ft.?

Can you guys add some insight to this? Also, how do you think the Reveals would be for HT in a small to med. sized room? Thanks.

They will work. Nearfield monitors will sound a bit "softer" farther away as the treble energy falls off a bit, which will be a good thng for home theater.

I have had very good luck with pro monitors in a home theater setting, having used NHTs, Mackies and JBLs. The LSR25p JBL is an amazing value for around $250 each with built in amps.

Yes, but I haven't lived with them. I think they're a good value, but I'd go with the JBL's personally.
