I just purchased some 16 gauge speaker wire from radio shack, however I'm now wondering if its entirely copper. Its called 2 conductor speaker wire. It can be seen here

One strand is copper colored, and the other is silver. Are they both copper? I though the silver strand was tinned copper, but upon further investigation, it is silver all the way through. I've seen similar wire bundled with a Htib a little while ago. So, what is it? thanks

It's to help you properly identify polarity one of strands has been tinned. With a clear jacket you need an identifier to make sure you maintain proper connection (Red to Red, Black to Black) and this is one of the methods of doing so.
