Over the next few weeks, All four of these speakers will be in our home, with the intent of having a blind listening test. Let's keep it civil, for now, I am looking for people wanting to participate in the blind test portion. The ground rules:

1. All speakers will be level matched.
2. A speaker-switch box will be used.
3. Each panel member will be making notes and assigning a score to each speaker BEFORE he/she knows to which speaker the score is going .

More later ... But remember, we want this to be FUN !

My wife has been consulted, and even THAT went rather well. The Veritas, BTW, require at least 100 hours of break in ...

These appear to be all full range, so the Ascends would be at a disadvantage.

The Ascends will be here, but not as part of the test ... xcjago is right.

And we are 90 miles from Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland ... and this event will have food, drink ... maybe even some golf.

Craig,

I know you stated a few weeks, but when exactly is this little get-together planned?
Sounds like a lot of fun.

Upon further review, I think moving the actual date to late September is the best thing to do. We avoid vacation time for people, yet it will still be great weather here. This will also give ample time to plan this out accordingly. AND, it will give plenty of time for all the speakers to be properly broken in ...

We can accomodate about 50-60 people at the house.

And yes, my wife IS aware of my plans here.

We are going to try to get some of the speaker companie's ownership/management here, too ... They will have an OPEN invitation.

Ironically, depending on when in September you are planning the GTG, by trying to avoid the major push of vacation time, you may have moved the date right into my families vacation plans. Oh well. Hehehe.

The Veritas will win unconditionally if you have knowledgeable listeners. I'll put $100 on it.

I am just looking for 12 people with the courage required to be involved in a blind test with four well regarded loudspeakers. A lot of audiophiles love to talk about why a particular speaker sounds better than another. Proving it under blind conditions is another matter.

We will talk more after 12 panel members are selected. HOPEFULLY a few Energy and Paradigm owners will be here.

Fair enough. Can't wait to see the results. But the 2.4i is quite a bit more expensive than the others. The 2.3 might be better.
Cheers.

Well, maybe so... but I would have made damn sure I would show if you were going to be there. ;)

Two things:
1. As I am buying all the speakers for this GTG, my investment will be in the $10,000 range ... Four pairs of speakers, Food, Drinks, Catering ... etc ... but hey, the $100 is looking pretty brave ... ;)

2. I feel for any Energy owners ... think about it, if, as a Veritas owner, you DON"T pick the 2.4i's, Soundstage will have you exiled !

Craig,

You have to understand that for some people, their $100 is like your $10,000, and therefore all they can afford. ;)
